1. SUMMARY

At ACES Delta, we are moving the boundaries of renewable energy. Enabling previously unattainable utility and industrial scale storage of renewable energy, we are transforming intermittent renewables into reliable, safe, and affordable energy. With ACES Delta, the clean energy possibilities are limitless. A joint venture between Chevron U.S.A. and Mitsubishi Power, with Chevron as a majority owner, ACES Delta is driving the clean energy transition through the development of hydrogen hubs across the United States to transform intermittent renewables into reliable, safe, and affordable energy. We are seeking a Director of Plant Operations to lead this first of a kind facility.

Responsible for leading the operations and maintenance of all conversion and storage facilities at the site. Provide leadership and line management for the development and maintenance of a high performance team.  Has overall responsibility for overseeing that the operation facilities perform within the established requirements and meet the specified goals.

2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering programs or policies to ensure effective and efficient use of facilities and staff.
  • Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations. Oversees facility operations and maintenance ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met. Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
  • Assists chief operating officer with development of operating budget, long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
  • Assists chief financial officer and the finance team in execution of the company’s asset management strategy for the facilities and other assets in the operations department. 
  • Facilitates communication of facility performance with operation teams, stakeholders, sponsors, customer representatives, and senior level management. Captures and documents all lessons learned or after action review comments and provides summary briefings as necessary.
  • Develops working relationship with counterpart in customer, partner, and supplier organizations to facilitate issue identification and resolution efforts as necessary.
  • Prepares and participates in risk, issue and opportunity identification through detailed analysis of the facility operations. Works with program or facility leadership to develop and execute mitigation strategies. 
  • Performs additional tasks or assignments when given by the senior management. Provides suggestions and other input to improve the execution of ACES Delta facilities.

3. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes alliances with other departments and organizations by recognizing dependencies.  Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships with others.
  • Conducts internal staff meetings to disseminate appropriate company and project information. Ensures that all staff is informed of needed information, policies and expectations regarding the execution of the project, specifically as it pertains to safety, quality and related regulations.
  • Participates in the mentorship and development of individual team members.
  • Continuously seeks to expand and improve personal knowledge in the area of project management best practices and participates in and promotes the development and adoption of new processes or changes to existing processes that continue to mature the program/project management discipline.
  • Continuously seeks to expand and improve personal knowledge in the areas of hydrogen generation, renewable energy, decarbonization, and energy storage. 

4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or similar technical field from four-year college or university; and ten (10) or more years related experience in managing large power generation or industrial gas facilities.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.

5. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand and walk. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection may be recommended and/or required in some areas.

Travel is required, including on occasion to construction sites and working out of construction temporary offices.
